The Advantages Of Diesel Engines

A diesel engine is an engine that burns diesel to obtain energy release, invented by German inventor Rudolf Diesel in 1892. In memory of this inventor, diesel is represented by his surname "Diesel", and diesel engines are also known as Diesel engines.
The working principle of a diesel engine is to inhale pure air during the intake stroke, and then at the end of the compression stroke, the diesel fuel is injected into the cylinder through the fuel injection pump to increase the oil pressure to above 10MPa. It mixes with the compressed high-temperature air in a short period of time to form a combustible mixture. Due to the high compression ratio of diesel engines (usually 16-22), the air pressure in the cylinder can reach 3.5-4.5MPa upon completion of compression, and the temperature can reach 750-1000K, greatly exceeding the self ignition temperature of diesel. Therefore, diesel will immediately ignite and burn on its own after being injected into the cylinder. The high-pressure gas generated by combustion drives the piston to move downwards and drives the crankshaft to rotate to do work, while the exhaust gas is discharged into the atmosphere through the exhaust pipe.
Diesel engines are classified in various ways, including working cycle, cooling mode, intake mode, combustion chamber, number of cylinders, purpose, arrangement, and piston evaluation speed. These different types of diesel engines are widely used in various fields such as automobiles (especially heavy-duty trucks, buses, and SUVs), ships, generator sets, and construction machinery.
The advantages of diesel engines include long lifespan, durability, and high torque at low speeds, making them superior to gasoline engines in complex road surfaces, hill climbing, and heavy loads. However, it also has some drawbacks, such as high noise, high manufacturing costs, and difficulty starting. However, in many application scenarios, diesel engines remain an efficient and reliable power choice.
